Celebrating Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori

Katharine Jefferts Schori

We are delighted to celebrate a St. Paul’s member, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori on the occasion of receiving an honorary doctorate from Oregon State University.

Bishop Katharine has devoted her life to faithful leadership, serving as the 26th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church and, before that, as Bishop of Nevada. A former oceanographer, she has spent her ministry bringing together faith and science while championing care for creation, peace and justice, and the dignity of every person.

As the first woman to serve as Presiding Bishop in The Episcopal Church and the first female primate (leader) in the Anglican Communion, she has helped shape a more just and compassionate Church. Her lifelong advocacy for LGBTQ+ inclusion, environmental stewardship, and communities in need continues to inspire Episcopalians around the world.

Congratulations, Bishop Katharine, on this well-deserved honor. We give thanks for your faithful witness and rejoice in this recognition of a life dedicated to serving God and God’s people. Learn more.
